Byron Harrison has been singing at weddings and in church since the age of 12 years old. Coming from a musical family of vocalists and musicians, Byron discovered his music abilities at an early age while growing up watching his dad Jesse Harrison, Jr. sing gospel music in the 80’s throughout Houston. When his cousin in Seattle noticed him singing in the shower one day at the age of 11, he quickly booked him to sing at a friend’s wedding. After that, Byron sang at church while growing up. He also sang in the gospel choir at Klein Forest High School where he began to lead solos. While attending DePaul University in Chicago from 1995-1999, he also sang with the DePaul University Gospel Choir. Throughout the 90’s and the following decade, Byron sang at countless weddings and ceremonies for family and friends across the country and also clients. Although Byron has a love for singing Gospel music, he also has a love for all different genres of music, including 80’s, hip-hop, pop, rock and artists such as Brian McKnight, Rob Thomas, and Van Morrison. At karaoke, which is his favorite pastime, he has even been known to sing songs by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Tears for Fears, James Blunt, Creed and Ambrosia! Byron’s other profession is an educator where he teaches criminal justice at North Harris Community College and also is a full-time adult education instructor with Harris County. Byron is a man of many talents and enjoys using all of his gifts to inspire and bring joy to people, and also to live out his purpose everyday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Gypsies Greg Harbar, the band’s founder and leader unearthed much of the band’s repertoire from his collection of several thousand vintage records and books and sheet music from around the world. "I felt there was a real need for people to experience their ethnic roots in music," says Greg, a former radio-advertising executive who had played accordion in his immigrant community as a child. Disillusioned with the standard musical format of Houston’s radio stations and live entertainment at restaurants and parties, he instituted his own long-standing show "The Gypsy Caravan" on KPFT. He successfully pioneered Houston’s only band that is equally welcome at Wortham Center or a Gypsy picnic! As full-time professional performer since its inception, Greg is dedicated to preserving and furthering the band’s musical traditions.
